May thru August is the time to try for tarpon in our coastal waters. These migratory fish may arrive sooner than August, if the weather is hot enough, the greatest concentration of tarpon is found here in the hottest month of summer. Bulls Bay is always a tarpon haven because the bait fish find this area perfect for their survival. Tarpon will feed on mullet, crabs or other forms of live food but they love a big school of menhaden, Charlestons water ways are full of them all the way to Santee Cooper Lakes this time of year. We will see hook ups with two or more tarpon a day!
